Henri Matisse
(1869-1954)
Matisse's accomplishments as a printmaker were prodigious. Matisse first worked on copper in 1903, composed his first linocuts and lithographs in 1906 and continued to make prints over the next six decades. It is perhaps for his etchings and lithographs of the 1920s and 1930s that he is best known.
